This sounds like a very good service that Don Coggan is providing.

One of the problems with obtaining disability benefits and services is that many people are not aware of what is available to them.

I once published a Disability Guide outlining the various forms of government and corporate assistance available to people with disabilities.

The Guide was sponsored by a local car dealership and included information on services and products available to help people with disabilities retain their ability to drive a personal vehicle.

It is a nice use of SBI to be dedicating a site to helping people.

It was refreshing for a change to read an article that wasn’t just regurgitated drivel like most of the blogs I read during my shameless attempts at link building. I’m glad to also be able to gain info from someone with 29 years more than me in the game. I must say, i used to be loyal to one platform (Joomla) which was great for complex sites but shocking for SEO. I moved on to wordpress for my newer affiliate marketing efforts and find it’s far better for SEO. I haven’t tried SBI yet but you’ve convinced me to check it out. I did read a good tutorial from them. It was actually a whole e book. Unfortunately a bit outdated so the links weren’t active anymore but I do agree that just by virtue of the fact that they educate their users, they stand to be more successful in the long run. At this point in time, I believe that whether you use Weebly, WordPress, SBI or any other searchable platform (Not including flash based sites like wix), it will come down to the quality and quantity of both the content and links you have. Where I have made my mistakes in the past is by not focussing my content as much as I should have. I’m trying to correct that now. Also, I will take your advice and drop the random affiliate programs that I’m currently promoting and try just keep the really great ones. It does make sense when you say you should manage your herd.

Blogging is definitely just a hobby for me (with money earned being basically non existent), so I want my hobby to be as painless as possible! I find WordPress and all the available plugins make my life much easier. Perhaps it is just because that is what I started with and I am slow to change based on my cranky personality! I am sure SBI has it’s merits, but I for one will stick to WordPress.

With WordPress being loved by Google, the many different themes you have access to, the plugins you have access to, and the overall interface makes it clearly better especially if you want to develop a business focused mainly by marketing on the internet.

First of you are completely right – people confuse a lot between business and busy-ness. Many folks are addicted to activity. They confuse activity with progress (at least I definitely did). At the end of the day, for a business, what really matters is what it generates.

Between SBI and WordPress

I think SBI cannot be compared with WordPress as such. WordPress is a CMS (just like Joomla, Drupal or Moveabletype) whereas SBI is a complete business building system. The beauty or power of SBI is not merely in building webpages but the process and strategy behind it. How to think about website as a business. How to go about building it and things like that.

I think the “idea” or “thought” behind SBI is what makes it successful.

I had given SBI a trial but after being so used to wordpress as CMS, I did not get along with SBI’s content building system. This speaks more about my comfort and preferences than about SBI’s system.

But I am really glad I took SBI for a spin. What I have learnt there was precious. I apply the same techniques to a wordpress based website.

Hi John:

The word “clunky” used to describe the SBI blockbuilder process conjures up an image of “clumsy.”

A better descrption might be time-consuming.

However, if someone had to do by themselves everything that the blockbuilder does automtically, it would take even more time, and for most of us, who are not html experts, building pages would not be possible.

Moereover there are many features with the SBI page-building process, such as checking for keyword density, that are very helpful.

Keep up the good work on 21st Century, John Your work is always helpful and objective.

Good morning, Kukkaruukut.

My primary SBI-powered business site is MurphyGold.com.

I don’t post traffic statistics nor dollar amounts.

However, I did earn enough from that site this week to pay all its expenses for 2012, plus a substantial portion of all the overhead for my business for this year (which includes all my other sites and blogs, domain names, and the other services to which I subscribe). I should be able to cover all my business expenses for the year before the end of February, and all future earnings in 2012 will be profit.

(And, I’m just getting started with building that site. I opened it in 2009, but have been too sick to work on it over the last couple of years. I’m just now starting to really build it into what I have envisioned.)

My blogs barely pay their own way.

Hi Dennis, Yes, my two SBI-powered sites are... Act On Your Dream! Murphy Gold The first is something in which I am passionately interested, but don't expect to earn a lot from. It's been profitable since I started it, but I've barely touched it over the last three years. It'll get a major overhaul over the next two months. Murphy Gold is my primary business site and is where I'll be promoting some of the best small business owners in Murphy, NC, my adopted home town. I have two more on the drawing boards, but won't start on them until next fall. This blog will most likely be converted to an SBI-powered website in the winter of 2012-2013. Act on your dream! JD

Having just started a wp site, I will watch with interest how your SBI site performs – can you tell me what the url is please? Or if you could also post the results here after a few months, it would be good to see the traffic results.

I have to admit, I’d not heard fo SBI until this post. Always good to have some kind of insurance policy should wp fail to deliver.

I am in the same boat as you are, John. In terms of blogging. I make hardly any money but I do it cause I enjoy it but my source on income comes from other website as well.

That is so true, John. In marketing business, you need to choose the product you want to promote so you can concentrate on that one. One thing I learned before I became a bestselling author and long before Inc Magazine voted my company as one of the fastest growing companies is concentrating on one stuff so that this will become a great success.

I agree with you about the SBI approach and process of building content-rich niche sites with high quality information. If you can attract pre-sold, willing-to-buy people to your website, who are already intensely interested in your subject, then I’m sure you’ll do well.
