Affiliates terminated in Hawaii and Rhode Island

What next?

The NYAffiliateVoice blog has an article about several companies terminating affiliates in Hawaii and Rhode Island.

Termination of Hawaii Affiliates Continue

I wonder how many hundreds of affiliate marketing businesses – both full-time and part-time – are being destroyed by these tax law changes.

(Sigh.)

Act on your dream!

  2. Wow, when does it end? They are really screwing with people income. I feel bad for the people making a full time income from one program and they are termainated.

  4. Good evening, Deneil.

I’m afraid that this is just the first part of the process and more will come.

It’s always a good thing to have diversified sources of income for just this very type of situation – don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

    But, I agree with you.

  10. What are they stupid? First the recession hit affiliates hard (and I really mean HARD) now they’re changing the laws so that it’s almost impossible to make any money. I wonder who lobbied for this.

  12. Good morning, Darmowe.

(Please forgive my ignorance, but I’m not sure if that is your name or not. Is it?)

I don’t think they’re necessarily stupid, but I don’t think they understand the consequences. Perhaps they do, and they don’t care.

Some of these states are suffering huge deficits and they’re looking for “easy” ways to collect more taxes. Even when it is explained to some of them how affiliate marketing works, they just don’t “get it.”

Yes, the recession has hit many of us hard and these new laws are not helping at all.

I suspect that companies with a physical presence in the state have been lobbying for it – probably calling it “leveling the playing field,” although I don’t know for sure.

  14. Yes we have some hard times among all marketing and production branches… Unfortunatelly rising taxes is the easiest (but one of the worst) ways to gain more money. That is the reality we live in…

I think you’re right. It’s sad, but true.
