Good morning, Anita.

Welcome to our discussions.

That's the first time I've heard anyone ask that question. I don't know the answer.

I wonder what Facebook help has to say...

I just went and looked at their help files regarding usernames and I see that Facebook support can remove a username, but I don't see any way for a user to revert to not using one.

I guess it would be possible to contact support and ask them to remove a username, but I don't know how well that would work.

Act on your dream!

Has anyone figured out a way to delete the username once it's been set?

Good morning, Steve.

I got a laugh out of you being behind your 9 month old grandson.

I can relate, in a different way, though. I'll never know as much about cell phones as my grandkids do.

Act on your dream!

I haven't even had chance to set up Facebook account yet. Even my 9 month old grandson Logan has his set up.

I need to get a move on!

Good afternoon, Mitch.

As long as you know how to link to your Facebook profile so people can find you there, that's probably the most important thing.

I don't know about Firefox remembering all. I make it a point not to tell it about certain things.

Good afternoon, Deneil.

Congratulations on getting your name as your Facebook username. It's getting harder and harder to do that.

I guess we'd be out of luck if our name was John Smith.

Good afternoon, M.S.E.

(I prefer addressing a real person's name rather than a handle, so, since I didn't know your name, I'm abbreviating what I do know.)

I'm sorry, but I really don't understand what you mean.

Did you create a username, but can't reach your profile using it?

Have you tried going to your profile using the old URL and seeing if it redirects to the one with a username rather than a number?

I don't know anything about being able to delete it.

You may have to try contacting Facebook support.

Good luck!

I made a Facebook username but I don't know what it is. I tried reading more information about it but it did not tell me what it is!! So, sorry for my ignorance but can you tell me what this is about and does my friends need to specifically type in my web adress/ username to look into my profile? Is there some way to delete it?

Thanks John. I actually did go ahead and get my name, which has a number added to it since there are others with my name. However, I still won't remember my profile name; luckily, Firefox remembers all. :-)

Good morning, Mitch,

After posting the reply a few moments ago, I went to Google and searched for "johndilbeck" (without the quotes).

My Facebook profile now shows up on page two of the results. I don't think it did prior to their changes over the weekend.

We'll see if that has any benefits.

Act on your dream!

Good morning, Mitch.

It's been a long-standing burr under my saddle that it was so hard to remember my Facebook profile address. That's why, as soon as I could, I grabbed the username "johndilbeck" to match my username on almost all the other social networking sites.

For me, it's an ease-of-use thing.

For others, it may make it easier to find me.

For example, which is easier to tell someone, and for them to remember?

facebook.com/johndilbeck

or

facebook.com/profile.php?id=502403467

That's why I set mine as soon as I could.

I just tried going to the old address and see that it's redirected to the new /johndilbeck address. That may have some SEO benefits. We'll see.

Of course, if it's not important to you, then there's no rush. Right?

;)

Act on your dream!

JD

PS. My condolences on your problems with Vista. Who would ever think to look at the boot order of the drives? That was a very good catch on your part.

I believe I'll just stick with using my Macs.
