It’s hard to choose…
Hi Pat,
I know. I had a difficult choice to make, too.
I finally voted for the Giant Squid who had, I believe, helped the most people over the last year.
I’m not sure who to vote for in some of the other categories and I don’t know if I’ll have time to go visit all the nominated lenses, so I voted for a couple that I already knew were excellent.

I haven’t actually voted on any but found many good lenses. Thanks John!
PS.Maybe we should get our lenses in next year comptetition?

Good morning, Zas?ony.
Welcome to our discussions. I hope you’ll come back often and participate.
I agree. There are some great lenses there. I want to go back and look at some more of the lensographies when I get the time.
Getting into next year’s competition is a great goal. Let’s see what we can do!

I am honored to be among those nominated for the Giant Squid Awards — and would so appreciate your visit and your vote for Funny Songs in the Music Category!

I just could not resist this opportunity to advertise. Thank you, John!
I am trying to visit them all, and agree with others that choosing the most helpful Giant Squid is a difficult choice. So many of these nominated give so very much to all of us!
Good afternoon, Joan.
You’re always welcome here.
I hope you do well with your funny songs lens. I’m sure this year’s competition will bring more visitors to your lens who may not have seen it, otherwise.
Yes, there are several extremely helpful Giant Squids. It was a very difficult choice.

Wow that will take some time to decide, won’t it. Some great choices indeed, so I’ll be back!
Any particular faves John?

Good afternoon, Dennis.
I agree, there are some very good choices there.
As far as the Giant Squids are concerned, there are several who have been very helpful.
In the end, I decided to vote for thefluffanutta because of all the tools he provides us via SquidUtils.com. Not only that, but he has answered questions and provided examples I could use here or there.
Still, it was a difficult choice.
What do you think?

Well thanks for the reminder AGAIN lol. Damn I keep wanting to check out SquidUtils.com, then keep getting distracted.

Good morning, Dennis.
I know what you mean about getting distracted. I had about a dozen tabs open this morning while I was working on something. Now I’m back down to two and it’s much easier to keep up.
I think you’ll enjoy all the tools thefluffanutta offers on SquidUtils.com.
I’ve been meaning to ask you, Dennis, what’s the link to your lensmaster page?

I’ve only started one lens so far, and barely on that one. What’s a lensmaster page? Like a list of all my lenses?

Good evening, Dennis.
Have you published that lens, yet? If so, then Squidoo will automatically create your lensmaster page for you.
For example, my lensmaster page is located at:
http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/johndilbeck
You can find yours by substituting your Squidoo username in place of “johndilbeck” in the above URL.
Now, the standard lensmaster page is relatively sparse, but you can customize it a great deal, when you’re ready to do so.
You can customize your lensmaster page by logging in at Squidoo and going to:
http://www.squidoo.com/member/profile
There, you can edit your standard bio, set up the lenses you want to feature, add your external links, add other favorite lenses, and choose whether to share your the lenses you have favorited, or not.
Then, by promoting your lensmaster page (using the button from SquidUtils.com, for example), you’re also promoting your lenses and even some external links.
It’s pretty powerful, once you have it all set up.
Your lensmaster page will have a list of all your lenses, sorted from most to least popular.
If you want to present your lenses differently, you can create what we’re calling a lensography. In fact, you can create as many as you need or want, depending upon how you want to group and present your lenses and other information.
For example, my main lensography is:
I try to remember to add all of my lenses to that page. I just noticed that I need to do some updating.
Let’s say you wanted to create a lens to promote your blogs. You may want to create a separate lens for each blog, and then build a “blogography” lens that links to all of them. Of course, you’d link from each of your blog lenses back to your blogography, so that would help people find them.
This is something I’m planning to do after I decide which of my blogs to keep and which to delete.
Even if you only picked up a few visitors per month to those lenses, it could help build your readership on your blogs.
So, the take home part of this is:
1. Squidoo automatically creates a lensmaster page for everyone who publishes one or more lenses. You can choose to customize it, if you want.
2. You can create as many lensographies as you want in order to promote your lenses and other web presences.
Does that answer your question?

I haven’t published it yet, no. But this is all excellent info.
I started it quite a while, got really frustrated and quit. Since then all kinds of awesome posts like yours have been sprouting up with “how to” and “how to not” advice, so ’09 will definitely be a Squidoo year for me.
